Police have confirmed that a skull found in Kings Lock, near Wolvercote, on Monday was historic.
Spokeswoman Connie Primmer said: “The area where the skull was found is very close to a series of Bronze Age barrows (burial mounds) and the archaeologist believes the skull looks historic.
“This is being treated as an archaeological find at this stage.”
