THE body of a woman was found a house in Abingdon Road yesterday.
Witnesses said police officers and forensics staff had been at the house since about 8.30am.
The three-storey home had its windows covered and painted up.
Thames Valley Police spokesman James Williams said a member of the public called police about the property at about 7.20am, but he refused to give any more details about the call. He said the body of a woman was discovered and she was pronounced dead by ambulance staff.

He added: “The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious at the moment. We are investigating.”
One neighbour on the opposite side of Abingdon Road, who did not want to be named, said: “I noticed there were forensics and stuff. That usually means it’s something fairly serious, but I didn’t know what was happening.”
Andrew Godley, who lives in nearby Kineton Road, said: “I’m very surprised.
“It’s very rare to get much police activity around here.”
Dharamaraj Prasad, who runs the Londis store on the corner of Abingdon Road and Newton Road said: “We had people coming in all morning saying there were police at the house, but we didn’t know what it’s about.
“It’s really sad.”
