A MAN was taken to hospital this morning following an accident by a fallen tree near Oxford.

The crash on Horton Road, near Stanton St John, happened at about 5.30am.

Thames Valley Police spokesman James Williams said it was not thought that the tree was the cause of the crash, but a tree surgeon had been called. 

South Central Ambulance spokeswoman Michelle Archer said one man in his 30s was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for treatment.

It is not yet known if the man has been seriously hurt.

Horton Road has been closed following the crash, holding up traffic between Horton-cum-Studley and Oxford.
