The Tesco Express had to shut for half an hour while paramedics treated a customer who had a medical emergency.

A man at the shop was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in a life-threatening condition at about 4.15pm on Sunday.

South Central Ambulance Service confirmed it sent an ambulance crew and two rapid response vehicles.

An employee who asked not be named said: “We had a customer come into the store. They had a quite serious medical issue and we had to call paramedics.

“We shut for half an hour. We needed to do that out of courtesy to the individual.”

No details about the medical complaint were released to respect the person’s privacy.
