A MAN has been jailed for nine months after breaching a restraining order five times in a year.

John Tom Loveridge, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court last Monday after pleading guilty to breaching a five-year restraining order.

The order prevented Loveridge, 24, from contacting a woman from Oxford.

He was sentenced to nine months in prison for breaching the order on September 28, 2014.

Loveridge was handed another six months imprisonment to run concurrently for breaching the restraining order again on September 29.

He was also ordered to pay the victim £100.

Yesterday Det Con Tim Hawley of Thames Valley Police’s domestic abuse investigation unit said: “This is an extremely heavy custodial sentence for a breach of restraining order.

“This sentence reflects the severity of the situation, where the offender repeatedly breached the restraining order imposed upon him.

“This order prevented him from contacting the subject by any means, directly or indirectly through phonecalls, text or social media.

“He repeatedly breached this.

“This is extremely distressing for the subject of the order and it will be a great relief to her that he will be locked up for the next nine months.”
