THE National Railway Museum in York has nearly completed a project to restore the train which carried wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s body from his London state funeral to Oxfordshire.
The museum yesterday announced that a luxury Pullman carriage and other carriages from the train will be reunited with the restored locomotive No. 34051 Winston Churchill, at the museum next week, in time for the 50th anniversary of the funeral on January 30.
Sir Winston is buried at St Martin’s Church, Bladon.
