I REFER to the correspondence over the last two years concerning the extension and alterations to Holy Trinity Church, Headington Quarry.

A second set of plans has now been drawn up which is going to cause the same problems as the first set, that is, graves being dug up or built over to house the new extension, and the corner of the extension will bring the building closer to the small graves inside the perimeter wall, making the short-cut to the north side of the church narrower. Anyone using this short-cut will pay no attention to these little graves and will be walking over them.

Pile-driving in order to erect this extension will also disturb them, causing distress to the families concerned.

The people on the electoral role were asked for their views and concerns on this matter. Many of us replied but we feel that we were not listened to as almost immediately we were told that a small number of people had voted to accept these plans and they intended to go ahead with them.

The parishioners, most of whom come from the old families who built the church, are most unhappy that the future of this lovely old Victorian church should be decided upon by such a small number of people.

They feel most upset over the way that this matter has been conducted from the very beginning. It is causing divisions between the parishioners and the church, causing much ill feeling.
