OXFORD is steeped in history, but that is no excuse for our phone service to be stuck in the 90s.
With the advent of 4G and smartphones, it is ridiculous that phone users in the city struggle just to make a phone call.
When the earthquake struck Fukishima in Japan, those affected were uploading videos and Tweeting photos of the destruction.
And yet trying to access a web page while standing on Osney Island is an impossiblity.
The network providers have rejected moves by the Government to allow mobile users to use towers of other providers so their signal is better.
But if they are no going to co-operate with each other then they need to ensure a better service for their own customers.
