MORE views in Oxford could be given protection after a city heritage group said it was preparing to publish a landmark study.
Oxford Preservation Trust (OPT) director Debbie Dance said its view cones study had been supported by Oxford City Council’s east area planning committee on Tuesday.
The study investigated 10 protected views of the city’s “dreaming spires” and asked residents in a consultation why they were important.
And Mrs Dance said they had also seen many suggestions of new views that people thought should be added to the protected group.

She said: “We are now talking to the council about what the next stage is, because although the study covers just 10 views we are aware that there are lots of others that people are interested in. As far as OPT is concerned, we also do not think there are only 10.
“This is the first part of the process and we will now start looking to fund a second part, although where that will come from yet we do not know.
“We hope the published study will help people understand why certain views are important and be accessible for everyone.”
The finished view cones study will be made freely available online within two months, Mrs Dance added. It was funded by English Heritage.
