DAVID Cameron has praised Barry Norton, who has left his role as party agent for West Oxfordshire Conservative Association.
The West Oxfordshire District Council leader stood down from his position as consultant agent on December 31 due to ongoing health concerns.
Mr Norton, who has been involved in election campaigns for Mr Cameron including the 2010 General Election, had been the agent since January 1995. He will continue in his role as WODC’s leader and councillor for North Leigh.
Prime Minister and Witney MP Mr Cameron said: “Barry Norton has been the finest example of an election agent for 20 years.

“For 13 out of those 20 years we have worked closely alongside each other and he has been a tremendous support to me both professionally and personally. Barry is involved in politics because he loves West Oxfordshire, believes in public service and cares for others.
“He brings good judgment and common sense to all he does. He has been a total pleasure to work with and has taught me a huge amount.”
Association chairman Richard Langridge added: “Barry has been a tremendous servant to the Conservative Party, both locally and nationally over many years.”
Natasha Whitmill, who lives in Chipping Norton, will take over from Mr Norton.
