NORMANDY Crescent families are still waiting to hear what caused a main to burst, flooding their homes and street four months ago.

Residents were forced out of their homes in Cowley when the main ruptured on September 23, the second time in seven years.

In November, Thames Water spokesman Stuart White said a meeting would be held for residents in January after findings of an investigation into the flood were analysed. But Thames Water spokeswoman Sarah Sharpe said the findings were still being reviewed.

She added: “We’re in the process of finalising a date for the meeting and we’ll be in touch with residents soon to confirm the details.”

Residents are already frustrated after the meeting was rescheduled from last year, but Thames Water Government liaison officer Huw Thomas said the meeting would be more productive after the investigation closed.

He said in September: “What we don’t want to do is have a meeting and say sorry we can’t answer that. We can come back when we have proper answers about the pipe.”

Eighteen households had to leave the street because of water damage. Some were placed in temporary accommodation and others, including an elderly couple, spent the Christmas period in hotels.
