THE public has just over two weeks to have a say on the design of Bicester’s eco-town.

Cherwell District Council has published designs for the site that, if approved, will guide future planning applications for the development, on the north-west edge of the town.

In November developer A2Dominion submitted plans for 3,500 homes on the site.

The plans for land off Lords Lane and Howes Lane include two primary schools, a secondary school, shops, offices and restaurants. Nine hundred homes have been proposed for the Howes Lane site and 2,600 for the Lords Lane site, with up to 30 per cent of properties to be classified as “affordable”.

The draft Supplementary Planning Document outlines plans such as green spaces and provisions for transport and renewable energy.

Cherwell District Council’s lead member for planning, Michael Gibbard, said: “The document is essentially a design guide make up of the site, a guide to layout.

“It will be used to guide future applications on the delivery of North West Bicester, to ensure that each stage of development contributes towards the creation of a sustainable and united community rather than pockets of individual estates.”

Mr Gibbard added: “We want the public to have a say into how it should be, what needs amending and what it might be missing.”
