First Great Western services between Didcot and Swindon were delayed for more than four hours yesterday.
Emergency engineering work on the line led to trains running at a reduced speed from about 7.30am.
Normal service was resumed shortly after 11.30am.
First Great Western spokeswoman Victoria Bradley said: “I spoke to our control centre and they said the only issue they were aware of was a speed restriction west of Didcot that delayed trains by two to three minutes.”
