A driver watched as the windscreen of his car was punched in by an attacker, police said.
The black saloon private hire car was driving slowly in Black Bourton Road, Carterton, at 12.30am on Thursday.
Police said a man jumped onto the bonnet of the car and punched the windscreen with both fists, causing it to smash.
The attacker was described as white, in his early 20s, slim, about 5ft 10ins tall, with short hair. He was wearing an untucked collared shirt, which was a dark colour with fine vertical pin stripes.
