Memory Lane this week
FOOTBALLERS and regulars from the Bystander pub, helped by players from the Dry Sandford club, organised a fun day and raised £700 for Rivermead Hospital, Oxford, in 1987. Among the visitors were Barry Gadner, five, and his sister Lucy, two, seen, above, enjoying a ride in a toy car.
THE Old Age Pensioners’ Club unveiled a plaque in memory of founder member Mrs D I Mathews in 1977. Among those at the ceremony were Nora Fisher (pictured left), another founder member, Freda Holroyd, club president, and Mrs Mathews’s nephews, Patrick Mathews, left, and Michael Rix.
