Sir – How pleasing it is to see the hard tennis courts at Bury Knowle Park being used so regularly over the past years.

In fact the investment in the facilities in this park and others in the city is commendable. So what a shame to see how the old sports pavilion in the park is in such a poor state of repair.

The roof, in particular, urgently requires attention as it is difficult to imagine how it could sustain another winter like last.

The trouble is the longer the condition is ignored the more costly it is to repair.
