WITH little more than a month to go until she flies to South Africa, Rebekka Stredwick is appealing for donations to help her tackle HIV and Aids in the country.
The 42-year-old from Headington, Oxford, lived in South Africa in the mid-1980s and has volunteered to go back. On February 3 she starts a three-year stay in Hillcrest, a town about 20 miles north west of Durban.
The marketing and public relations professional will work with the Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust’s marketing and fundraising team to raise money, train staff and map the locations of centres where patients get medication.

She has nearly raised the £23,400 she needs to cover her £650-a-month living expenses such as medicine and insurance, but she needs another £5,500 to cover one-offs like a second hand car, flights and furniture for where she will be staying.
