A RECORD audience enjoyed the final concert of Burford Orchestra’s 60th anniversary season.
About 250 people attended the concert at Burford School on Saturday evening, which featured a performance of The Planets, by Gustav Holst.
French horn player Louise Woods said: “It was a phenomenal success. We had our biggest audience ever – about 250 people – and we played The Planets better than ever before.
“We think the turnout was partly down to it being such a popular piece, but we were really overwhelmed by the turnout.
“It was great to have pulled it all off and it was particularly exciting to play with such a large percussion section.
“The kettle drums were making an enormous rumbling, especially during the Mars section, and it was brilliant seeing the smiles on the faces of people watching.”
