A ROADSHOW was held yesterday in a bid to uncover memories and memorabilia from the First World War.
As part of Wantage’s Betjeman Literary Festival people were asked to bring items from 1914 to 1918 to a Family History Roadshow at The Beacon.
The roadshow was one of a series that have been held across Europe in a bid to create a virtual archive of First World War letters, pictures and other memorabilia.
Wantage resident Rachael Pullen recently performed in Oh! What a Lovely War and was asked to come to the event in character by its organiser, author Jackie Storer.
Rachael, below with Bill, said: “The idea is to preserve these memories for all time for other people to see.
“We had a lot of people come down, someone brought a Victoria Cross and another had their grandfather’s diary.
“It is about collecting the stories of families from the local area. ”
