WITNEY’s Labour candidate Duncan Enright has launched a crowdsourcing campaign to raise the money to battle David Cameron in the next General Election.
The town and district councillor has taken to the internet to raise up to £10,000 towards campaign material to unseat Prime Minister and Witney MP Mr Cameron.
Legal restrictions mean that only UK citizens can donate but can do so from anywhere in the country.
Mr Enright, who was selected as Labour’s prospective parliamentary candidate in November, said: “This is partly to level the playing field. The Conservatives are pretty well-heeled and we need to be able to raise funds to fight an effective campaign.

“We also want people to feel a sense of involvement and have something tangible they can offer. These days people are pretty time-poor so something they can offer is a bit of money.”
Mr Enright launched his crowdsourcing campaign on website Indiegogo on Sunday and has raised £172 so far.
As well as Mr Enright, Mr Cameron will be taking on Green candidate Stuart McDonald, UKIP candidate Simon Strutt and National Health Action Party candidate Clive Peedell.
The Lib Dems have not yet selected their candidate.
