GLINTING in the sun, these metallic figures have brightened up a quiet corner of Carterton.
Three figures on two sculptured stainless steel benches have been installed in Carter’s Walk, named after the town’s founder William Carter. One of the statues is of Mr Carter, carrying a box of his famous tomatoes which were exported around the world.
The other two figures are a standing airman with his wife sitting on a bench, which celebrate the town’s link with RAF Brize Norton.
The works, created by artist Godfrey Phillips, are part of a town centre regeneration project by the town council.
Mayor Lynn Little said: “These sculptures will enhance the alleyway.
“We are trying to make the town a place people want to live with their families, but also come out shopping.
“The statues are very attractive.”
