I READ with interest that the Oxfordshire County Council Cabinet Member for Transport, David Nimmo Smith, is considering a new pedestrian crossing in Bridge Street in Witney.
While mulling over that decision, could he please let the residents of Risinghurst, Sandhills and Barton know when they will get their pedestrian crossing across the A40 opposite the Collingwood Road junction by Risinghurst that they have waited for for so long.
I have witnessed many children getting off their school buses which stops near to this junction, risking their lives while attempting to get across this very busy main road, and also many adults and children marooned on the central reservation, waiting for a gap in the never-ending traffic. As usual, the council will probably wait until someone is killed or injured before anything is done about it.
