AGAIN we hear from the Police Crime Commissioner, Mr Stansfeld and his ‘lack of resources’, accompanied this time no less by Deputy Chief Constable Francis Habgood. We all know by now that when a public body need ‘more resources’ what they really want is more of your money. Well, this time, you can’t have it chaps.

Here’s a couple of simple money saving ideas to be getting on with sirs. The first thing, Mr Habgood, is to get rid of the barely-elected PCC, his staff, salaries, expenses and wasted office space. Then you could rent that space out to some really worthy cause such as the local knitting circle.

The next thing is to tell officers further down the chain of command to stop wasting their time and effort and your money on chasing up victimless ‘crime’ which by definition is an absolutely pointless effort. Once you’ve set about this, I’ll come back and tell you how to save a further £10,000 in an equally painfree stroke. But I won't hold my breath.
