CUTTESLOWE Park’s paddling pool could be turned into a new “splash” pool.
Oxford City Council is looking into making changes to the pool, which is nearly 50 years old and coming to the end of its working life.
A consultation has been launched so the council can find out what park users want to happen to the paddling pool.

Kit Villiers, the chairman of the Friends of Cutteslowe and Sunnymead Park, said: “We are fully supportive of the council’s idea of having a splash feature.
Our top stories
“At the moment the paddling pool looks a bit run down and it is under-used at the moment. It will be much nicer for the children.”
Tim Green, the secretary of the Friends of Cutteslowe and Sunnymead Park, said: “At the moment the existing paddling pool is very expensive to run because they have to empty it every day and there has to be someone going there to test the water.
“It is a very old paddling pool and while it is very nice, and it has a little boat in the middle of it, it has been there for a long time and probably needs to be replaced.
“Cutteslowe is a big park and it is very popular. Splash features are generally more fun to play in.”
Already the city council is in discussions with the City of Oxford Society of Model Engineers over expanding the park’s miniature railway and work on this could start in the winter. The city council has secured £100,000 to help fund improvements to the paddling pool.
A spokesman for the city council said: “The paddling pool at Cutteslowe Park was first opened in 1965 and has now reached the end of its working life.
“We propose to convert it into a modern splash feature, which will be an improvement on the current paddling pool.”
