A FAMILY and pets escaped a house fire in Kingham.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to the New Road roof blaze at about 6.45pm on Saturday.

Paramedics treated a person for smoke inhalation at the scene and they did not require hospital treatment.

Firefighters used a hydraulic platform and water jets to put the fire out. An investigation into its cause is taking place.

Group manager Grahame Mitchell said: “Fortunately the family and family pets were able to escape the property quickly, and were supported by neighbours whilst the fire service brought the incident under control, the fire appears to have started with the loft area and we have fire investigation officers working at the scene to establish the cause of the fire.”
