THE report by Experience Oxfordshire shows just how crucial tourism is to our economy.
More than 31,250 people were employed in the sector and it was worth £1.47 billion, a staggering sum.
But the warning over hotel space is a critical one.
Oxford’s position near London is one of its attractions for tourists, but that can also be a hindrance in convincing them to turn a day trip into a weekend if there are no good-quality, affordable beds available.
