MORE than 9,000 county hospital admissions were alcohol-related in 2012/13, new figures show.
There were 9,340 admissions with the most in Oxford – 2,350 – Health and Social Care Information Data released yesterday showed.
It means there were 1,430 admissions per 100,000 people in the county, with the highest nationally being 3,280 in Middlesbrough.
County admissions were down from 10,100 in 2011/12, the first year the figures were published.

These were where an alcohol-related disease, injury or condition was the primary reason for hospital admission or a secondary diagnosis.
Promoting good health is the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council.
Head of commissioning Jo Melling said: “These figures show the damage done by regular consumption of more than the recommended amount of units per week.”
She added: “Although Oxfordshire does not have a significant problem in comparison with England, it is still a reminder of the long-term effects of drinking too much.’’
