IT would be wrong to suggest that planning officers at the Town Hall should be court-martialled for suggesting the proposal for a Spanish Civil War memorial in Bonn Square should be shelved.
They are, after all, only doing their jobs and are making comments on planning grounds only.
But the council originally supported the memorial, so if Bonn Square is not the right location an alternative should be identified immediately. There should be a fitting tribute to these Oxford volunteers who died fighting fascism.
