TWO cycle tracks in Oxford have been upgraded in a bid to encourage more people to get into the saddle.
The tracks in Hinksey Park, South Oxford, and Meadow Lane, off Donnington Bridge Road, were resurfaced as part of an Oxford Cycle City initiative working with local groups to identify changes that need to be made to encourage people to cycle.
City councillor John Tanner, exeuctive board member for Cleaner, Greener Oxford, said: “Small improvements to cycle paths such as resurfacing and better signs can make a big difference to a person’s decision on how to travel.”
Funding came from £362,000 the city council set aside this year for improvements for cyclists. Other projects include better cycle parking provision at Redbridge and Seacourt Park and Rides.
