A man verbally abused staff at Banbury railway station.

The incident, which occurred at about 4.40pm on Sunday September 14, involved a male passenger acting in an aggressive and threatening manner towards members of staff.

British Transport Police officers released CCTV images yesterday of a man they believe can help with their investigation.

Investigating officer, PC Chris Woolley, said: “A male passenger arrived at Banbury rail station and rather than buying a ticket from the booking office or a ticket machine, went straight to the ticket barriers and demanded a ticket from staff at the barriers.”

“The members of staff told the man he would have to buy a ticket from the office or a machine but he became aggressive and threatening towards them.”

“The man continued to verbally abuse the members of staff before leaving the station when told that staff had called police.”

Attempts to identify and track down the man involved have so far been unsuccessful and BTP is urging people to come forward.

They believe the man may travel regularly between Banbury and Birmingham Moor Street stations.
