A 28-YEAR-OLD suffered a broken jaw and fractured eye socket when he was assaulted outside a former lapdancing bar.
The victim was attacked outside The Lodge – now a burlesque club – in Oxpens Road, Oxford, in the assault at about 4.30am yesterday.
Thames Valley Police arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and he was being questioned yesterday.
A police scene watch was also in place outside the club yesterday morning.
Club owner Al Thompson said the management team at the venue would cooperate with police if needed.
He said: “I think it happened outside (the club), that is all I know.”
The Lodge – once Oxford’s only lapdancing club – reopened as a burlesque bar in April after it lost a High Court battle against Oxford City Council’s refusal to renew its sex entertainment licence.
Among the objectors were the Oxford Feminist Network which carried out a survey of women in the area – some who claimed they had been harassed by customers leaving the club.
Mr Thompson shut the club in December after Christmas.
