A HOMELESS man with tuberculosis (TB) has been given an anti-social behaviour order (Asbo) to stop him from coughing and spitting at people.
David Goodwin was banned from making any attempt to spread the disease under the temporary order issued at Oxford Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The 49-year-old, of no fixed address, is in custody at Bullingdon prison near Bicester awaiting trial next month for assault and three public order offences.
Goodwin refused to go to the video room at the prison for a live link so the hearing was held in his absence.

David Wignall, applying for the Asbo for Oxford City Council, said it was to protect people from his “continuing attempts to infect people with TB”.
He said: “It does seem the behaviour is getting worse. It is causing serious problems at the hospital.”
District Judge Tim Pattinson agreed an interim Asbo and said it should stay in place until a day after Goodwin stands trial at the court on Wednesday, October 15.
The order will be reviewed after the trial and if necessary, a full Asbo hearing will take place. He is banned from threatening, abusing, intimidating or harassing anyone in Oxford, entering any public leisure building in the city, coughing or spitting at anyone or threatening to do so, and trying to, or threatening to, spread TB to anyone either directly or indirectly.
