I admit to being the worst type of supporter as, although I have followed Oxford since 1960, I only occasionally go to matches and don’t see anything to make me change.
Weekly I read of the great football that they are playing and the quality strikers that are being signed but I am afraid that the league table doesn’t lie.
Currently 23rd having scored nine goals in 10 games and made even more galling by Northampton, relegation certainties last season, lying fifth.
Dropping in to non-league football, a distinct prospect, is not simply a case of bouncing back up as many of the former league teams now languishing in the Conference will confirm.
Today’s letters
I sincerely hope that these words are thrown back at me in the future but I don’t see any signs to suggest that they will.
