My wife and I have just returned from a holiday in Jersey, where we have been many times.
As Jersey is the most southerly point of the British Isles, it is a relief to go somewhere with the standards that we have sadly lost.
It’s clean, no litter and above all people do not spit in the streets, a disgusting habit that has been adopted here. There is no graffiti, you can walk through the streets and not be bombarded with foul language as you do here and there are no drunken morons patrolling the streets.
The pubs are a pleasure as they know how to behave and treat people with respect. Yes, they do have a problem with the influx of immigrants, but admit to it and are attempting to control it not open the floodgates as we continue to do.
Today’s letters
I find the morals and standards in this country have dropped to an all time low during my lifetime.
There is a terrible snob attitude that people are adopting whereby they think ‘as long as I am OK then I don’t care.’ Some of these people should look back at their roots. If we pull together we can put things right. But I am afraid that the likes of Cameron and his public school twits are so tied up in there cosseted upbringings they have no respect for the majority of the people in this country.
