THERE was something for everyone at this year’s Abingdon’s Splash of Pink day.

The Market Place event, which was held to mark the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, featured food stalls, morris dancers, breakdancing and a bake-off competition judged by BBC’s Great British Bake Off contestant Christine Wallace.

She said: “Last year I was invited down but I couldn’t come so I did a cake instead. It is a fantastic event, we want to raise as much as we can. The presentation of the cakes is great, people have gone to a lot of trouble.”

Abingdon breakdancer Josh Hermon, 15, brought a carnival atmosphere to the town on Saturday with his dance group the Flying Aces.

He said: “I have had some family members affected by breast cancer and I think when we are doing something we enjoy for a good cause it makes it even more enjoyable. Normally we would be busking, but this is a better cause.”
