MORE than 50 Kurds took to the streets of Oxford yesterday to condemn the actions of terrorist group IS and show their support for British military intervention in Iraq.
The protesters, carrying Kurdish, British and American flags, made their way from Cowley Road to Broad Street chanting “free Kurdistan” and “IS, terrorists.”
Organiser Sherko Zen-Aloush said: “We are here because of IS attacking Kurds in killing civilians. There are hundreds of thousands of refugees.
“We are asking the British Government to help us fight terrorists across the world. We need Kurdish fighters to be armed properly so we can get rid of IS in the Middle East.”

The protesters also called for British military intervention to be extended to Syria, which is almost certain to require another vote in the House of Commons.
A statement released by the organisers read: “We plead with Britain, the United States of America and the International Community for immediate military intervention in Syrian Kurdistan to help in defeating IS.”
