A NEW exhibition at Modern Art Oxford questions the values of the British monarchy.
Political artist Stuart Brisley’s exhibition State of Denmark opened to the public on September 18 and he hopes it will act as a catalyst for debate between republicans and royalists.
He said: “The name of the exhibition comes from Shakespeare’s Macbeth and it brings up questions about our current political state of affairs.”
At the heart of the exhibition is a wooden sculpture which Mr Brisley hopes will create audience involvement.

He said: “I have used the language of sculpture to present two sides, the monarchy and republicanism.
“On the republican side there are white boards on which the public are invited to write their comments and thoughts on the issue.
“So far there have been good and bad responses, but there isn’t a right or wrong.
“The sculpture’s message is neutral, I have just aimed to create an interesting enough platform to encourage people to engage.”
The exhibition is free and runs until November 16.
