I would like to congratulate all involved with Oxford Open Doors for a fascinating and thoroughly enjoyable weekend, with some interesting and unusual places open for the public which would not usually be assessable.
Some of the cars on display
I was asked by Colin Kilpatrick to help him to organise a small display of locally built cars on the Sunday.
Our display was in the Oxford Castle quarter and it was lovely to be visited by so many local people and tourists and to be able to talk about Cowley and Abingdon’s motor manufacturing history. We had 10 cars on display, comprising of seven Cowley built cars, two from Abingdon, and additionally we were joined by a Renault which was built in 1909. The Cowley cars spanned from 1926 to 1992, giving a good favour of some of Cowley’s past production.
