BARTON residents are gearing up to test the pedigree of their pets this weekend at the second annual Barton Fun Dog Show.
The show was conceived last year to help foster community spirit by showing off and judging the neighbourhood’s dogs.
And it seems to have worked, with the numbers of show entrants this year expected to double.
Barton Fun Dog Show organiser Katrina Lavis said: “It is something people can get their pets involved in as well as themselves.

“We have got a tombola, raffles and stalls selling various things.
“The event is run to raise funds for Help for Heroes, and this year we will be splitting the money between them and Dogs for the Disabled.”
Barton Fun Dog Show will be held at Barton Neighbourhood Centre on Sunday.
Registration is from 1.15pm to 1.30pm and judging will begin at 2pm. Among the categories are most handsome dog, prettiest bitch and best puppy.
Entries cost £2 per dog.
