AN INQUIRY into whether land in Northway should be protected starts next week.
A group of residents is attempting to protect the land at Foxwell Drive from being used for part of a junction across the A40.
The junction is being planned as part of Oxford City Council’s Barton Park development and would link the new 900-home development to Northway. This would be accompanied by lowering the speed limit on the dual carriageway from 70mph to 50mph.
A Town Green application has been submitted and inspector Ross Crail will hear arguments for and against protecting the land.

The hearing will start on Monday at St Columba’s United Reformed Church in Alfred Street. It will last for two weeks and is expected to end on Friday, October 10.
The Barton Park development has been given outline planning permission and work could start early next year.
