Hockey star Maddie Hinch was a resounding success yesterday when she visited Oxford’s Rye St Antony School to inspire the next generation of sportswomen.
The England hockey goalkeeper and Commonwealth Games silver medallist gave coaching sessions at the school.
Afterwards she hosted a question-and-answer session and told pupils about her sporting career in an assembly.
PE teacher Sarah Hoad said: “Success is a school target for us this year so bringing in someone who is successful in a sport the girls play was important.
“She took a really inspirational assembly about how she got where she is today despite setbacks and how she is hoping to go to Rio for the Olympics in two years’ time.
“Everybody here plays hockey, so it was great to get someone in to inspire them.”
