A TEENAGE boy sexually abused a seven-year-old girl while they watched the film Despicable Me 2 in a bedroom, jurors heard yesterday.

The 16-year-old from a village on the outskirts of Oxford, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is also accused of touching a six-year-old boy and groping a woman last year.

Oxford Crown Court yesterday heard from the girl, now eight, in a pre-recorded police interview before she was questioned by a defence lawyer via a video link. She said the boy had turned up at the house to play with her relatives but they were not in, so he was invited to watch the film.

In the video, a police officer spends more than 30 minutes trying to get the child to tell her what happened. The girl tells the officer she is too scared to tell in case the teenager beats her up.

The child told the officer the teenager nagged her to kiss him on the lips and made her touch him inappropriately before he touched her in a similar way.

Defence barrister Gareth James asked the girl if she had told the truth. She replied: “Yeh”.

The crimes against the children are alleged to have happened in October last year. The defendant denies causing a child to engage in sexual activity, two sexual assaults on children, and a sexual assault on a woman between August 16 and October 9 last year.

Jurors were told he had already admitted sexually assaulting another woman. The trial continues.
