YOUR reporter Annabal Bagdi did a wonderful job in highlighting the work of the Gatehouse on Friday (‘Chief hands reins over at homeless drop-in project,’ September 19 ) She captured perfectly the spirit of community and kindness that I recognise – but I’m afraid I have to correct one word in the last sentence. She says “The centre sells donated clothes twice a week.”
In fact there is no charge for any of our services. All those supporters of ours who are generous enough to pass on clothes (along with books and food) can be assured that they are always given away to those in need.
I felt this was such an important point that I should ask for space to make a correction.
ANDREW W SMITH, Project director, The Gatehouse, St Giles Parish Rooms, Woodstock Road, Oxford
