Fifty bulls were saved from a barn fire, above, where about 2,200 tonnes of hay and straw were ablaze yesterday.
Fire engines were called to Hawkwell Farm in Bucknell Road at about 4.30am.
They found about 1,000 tons of hay and 1,200 tons of straw on fire in a barn.
A woman, who lives at the farm but did not want to be named, said 50 small bulls, half-grown calves, were rescued.
Although they all got out alive, she said some had been “scorched”.
