It’s no surprise to those of us in the real world (unimaginable to the management of Stagecoach) that re-routing the S2 bus service away from the village of Minster Lovell, Burford Road and Tower Hill and putting it onto the A40 has not alleviated the delayed buses due to traffic jams on the A40.

Oxford Mail: Stagecoach Gold buses run between Swindon and Oxford

Indeed, the situation seems to be worse as more buses are now plying that road (the unwanted S7).

They won’t give us a real reason for the move which they accept saves them no money. Indeed Stagecoach, in their re-routing, are now guaranteeing, not only that they receive no income from the seven stops that they have excluded in each direction as pickup points, but also they have lost income from those who wish to alight at those stops!

Several people have made it known vocally that they have had to arrange lifts at great inconvenience, others have had to give up their jobs.

Today’s letters

Stagecoach has stated that the S7 is a replacement service through the village which it obviously is not as the first bus towards Oxford is at 10.12 and the S7 does not go to the centre of Oxford as the S2 did.

Accessing all the Oxford hospitals from Minster Lovell was possible in 90 minutes or less with the S2 and a simple change in the centre of Oxford.

This now takes much longer and needs two changes or a walk of over a mile at Minster Lovell.

There is also no direct contact with Carterton on Saturdays as there used to be, making a five mile journey into a pointless 10-mile journey via Witney which takes too long to bother with.

Even a mid-week, mid-morning trip to an appointment in Carterton will take fours hours.
