Queen Street has reopened this morning after emergency works took place.
The work by Thames Water to fix a broken sewer pipe was initially scheduled for three days but this was extended after workers needed to dig deeper than anticipated.
Thames Water spokeswoman Becky Trotman said the road reopened at 8am and buses are now able to travel down the street.
Thousands of passengers faced delays on Stagecoach and Oxford Bus Company services after the road was closed on Wednesday, September 10.
Buses were diverted down Castle Street instead of Bonn Square.
