Sir – Further to the letter from Richard Bowen, (September 11) who is groaning about the traditional fair in Oxford.
Yes it disrupts Oxford for three days, but so does the inconsistent roadworks by the Oxfordshire County Council. At least you know when the fair is coming.
It’s a chance for people to have fun or a thrill, albeit for a few minutes. The rides do cost, but then it’s the same across the country. If you don’t like the fair and ‘its cheap tat’, don’t walk through it. It’s always had exceptional brandy snaps and I look forward to a member of the family picking up a packet. It’s called tradition.
