MORRIS dancing, cow-milking contests and a Spitfire fly-past were the attractions at this year’s Charlbury Street Fair.
The 59th event, launched by a fancy dress parade including youngsters decked out as kings and queens, saw more than 1,000 people turn out in the town centre.
They were treated to a fly-past by an RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire, as well as morris dancing, a Punch and Judy show, fairground rides, classic car parade and games like trying to squeeze the most water out of a cow’s ‘udder.’ Organisers of Charlbury Beer Festival held a human fruit machine game, with visitors trying to get matching bottles of beer rather than fruit.
Charlbury resident Lilian Buy, who has been attending the fair since 1975, went with her grandchildren Alfie, five, and Isqabelle Priddy-Mill, seven, and Alexa Bell, eight.
She said: “I really enjoy it every year. The Spitfire fly-past was tremendous – it brought a lump to the throat.”
