THE Labour Party’s Chewe Munkonge was elected as the new city councillor for Quarry and Risinghurst following yesterday’s by-election in the ward.
Mr Munkonge won 782 votes to secure victory, with his nearest challenger, Roz Smith of the Liberal Democrats, polling 615.
Katharine Harborne of the Conservative Party won 222 votes, Liz Taylor of the Green Party came fourth with 186 and English Democrats candidate Julia Gasper was last with 43.
