After several years of neglect, we now read that money is being diverted away from ‘urgent’ road repairs and spent on less urgent maintenance instead (September 10).
Perhaps the cash-strapped NHS could adopt the same principle? Cancel all emergency lifesaving surgery and concentrate on out-patient clinics instead. I’m sure they would make a killing.
Actually, the similarity between these two scenarios is not as far removed as first appears. They would both put lives at risk.
